A Hilarious Read/See

For my birthday, Abby's sweet boyfriend, Alex, bought me two books (he knows me too well!). I just finished the first; a comic, fast read, This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper, is truly enjoyable and a book you want to pass to your best friend the minute you close the cover.

At a little over 300 pages, the book goes quickly as the first person narrator moves deftly from present tense to memories to lucid dreaming to nightmares. While dealing with infidelity and bereavement, This Is Where I Leave You stays lighthearted and witty.

To top things off, it's been produced as a family dramedy for the summer. (It looks great!) It stars some of the top rom-com players including Jason Bateman, Jane Fonda, and Tina Fey. I wanted to read it before I see it, will you do both?

SNL Thumbs Up

Also, while I was feeling really lukewarm about this season of SNL (I miss Bill.), I was pretty impressed with this week's show. I'm not the biggest Miley fan, but I was laughing so hard during their government shutdown music video. Bit thumbs up, SNL. The "shout out" to MN, Michelle Bachmann made it especially funny–and didn't they do a great job with make up for Bachmann and Boehner? Wow.

Learning English with Ricky Gervais

My good friend showed me this hilarious video last night, and I've watched it several times already! (I laughed so hard I spilled my coffee this morning while watching it!) Ricky decided to make a video has spread it across the internet encouraging others from around the world to create the subtitles for it! This one has German subtitles, but it's caught on like mad and there is every language you could imagine!

Arrested Development

I know I'm late to the party, but Arrested Development is pretty much the greatest. After The Office ended, I was feeling a little saddened. One of our friend's visited over the long weekend and introduced us to the series, which Abby and I have quickly enjoyed. It's a smart, funny show that plays up every family quirk we love to hate. There's a perfect mix of dumb humor with witty commentary, and I must say that the best part of the show is the mysterious narrator.

Also, my favorite line from the show: "No touching!" Jeffrey Tambor is awesome

I always get hooked on shows after they've been out a while. Do you do the same, or are you generally on top of the "it shows"?

P.S. Awesome AD posters from Netflix...

Ugly Renaissance Babies

This Tumblr makes me laugh out loud every time. Have you ever noticed there are a small handful of really ugly babies in the world? It's unfortunate, but true. And most of those babies are in beautiful art museums!

Sadly, these babies are immortally ugly...the captions are what make it!
