{Spring Threads}...Wedding Edition Part Three

Our last wedding edition of spring threads has the ultimate fanciful vibe. Imagine a garden wedding, not only are there bouquets and boutonnieres, but walls of flowers, petals down the isle, gorgeous ivy twisting it's way around archways. It's dreamy and fragrant. With this, you definitely get to go on the precious side of things. Since the flowers will most likely be incredibly vibrant, sticking with a softly neutral ensemble can be best.

This beautiful blush pink dress with a boat neck is perfect for garden and tea parties alike; it's girly and still sophisticated. (Bonus! This is something you actually can wear again.)

Simple gold hoops will look elegant, but young––they also will be great for any hairstyle.

Let your necklace mimic the garden while being totally cool. The tortoise shell enamel baubles with sparkle and shine are anything but predictable. They also give a nice edge to the sweetness of the whole outfit.

Add some funk by mixing floral patterns with geometric designs like this clutch to make your "garden themed outfit" a little less obvious.

Since you'll be wearing a pale, short dress, these nude shoes with minimal straps will elongate your legs, give you great posture and with an ankle strap, you're set for dancing!

What do you usually wear to weddings? Would you dare wearing any shade of white or cream? Can you wear the same color scheme as the bridal party? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. A totally sweet, non-traditional wedding gift; 27 must take wedding photos; and hashtagging a wedding for candids from friends and families (we did it at a family member's wedding!).

{Spring Threads}...Wedding Edition Part Two

The last wedding style post we looked at easy, breezy evening weddings. For this wedding, we're going to the pretty typical wedding. The one where the ceremony is at a church at three o' clock in the afternoon, the reception is at a country club with beautiful flowers and green lawns, and the DJ plays only classics. It's refined, fun, and lovely. Wearing a simple, bright dress with fun accessories is a great way to mix up the preppy look a little. Everything from the cut of the dress to the pattern of the necklace is traditional, but the candy hues keep it funky.

A sweet papaya toned dress that will look great with manicured lawns and oak trees.

Neon sorbet baubles that scream, "I'm preppy, but fun!"

Avoid the lipstick and go with a simple gloss that is effortless and playful.

Crazy blue nails that pick up your necklace and remind you to go a little wild at the dance.

Basic, but not bland clutches are great for when your jewelry does the talking.

Metallic pumps for dancing the night away like the glam 80s bands that will definitely be played.

P.S. Can we just go back to the April wedding?

{Spring Threads}...Wedding Edition Part One

Spring is coming to a close, which means that wedding season is in full swing. Almost every weekend I see limos, veils, and tulle turning around the corner. As we all begin to attend the busiest season of love, here are some of my favorite looks for every sort of venue. Our first type of wedding is the relaxed evening ceremony. Perhaps it takes place on the beach, in a beautiful garden, or in a church. Either way, sticking with a simple, but bold dress is a great decision.

If you somewhat mimic the setting sun in this purple maxi, you'll look great without distracting. Plus, you'll look wonderful in those candid pictures we (kind of) dread!

Let the stars and setting sun set your earrings a glow with glittery gems.

For spring events, I kind of love gold nail polish. It's glamorous and still sophisticated.

A bright pink lip is all you need for your spring smile to bloom.

A natural woven clutch is perfect for a relaxed, polished look when toting along all your necessities.

If you're outside and in a maxi, stick with a great flat sandal. Dancing will also be much more enjoyable.

A Change of Heart

I went home last week for my girlfriend Becca's wedding. We're practically sisters, and she's one of the most important, inspiring, beautiful, and intelligent young women I know. Her new husband(!) Vince is equally incredible. But after months of planning a several frantic mornings leading up to the big day, I felt disillusioned with weddings. I even told my mom, "Don't expect a white dress, a church, or an aisle. I'll be at city hall." I was definitely feeling tired and stressed...

And then we got to the rehearsal dinner. It was incredible with so much love and happiness. I was really feeling good. Saturday morning rolled around, and despite a few bumps along the way, I had the best weekend in a long time. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by the support and gratitude, joy and excitement. I still haven't stopped talking about the wedding.

I'm stubborn, but I've had a change of heart. People are actually right when they say there is something ineffably special about a wedding. So I guess you can maybe expect at least an aisle and church out of me...

What do you think? Did you used to think weddings were too grand? Would you have a small or large wedding? Are they obsolete in this day and age?

{Weekend Update}...Bridal Shower

This weekend I went home with Abby to throw my best friend Becca her bridal shower. My mom is amazing and had the house decorated in the most beautiful purples, tulle, candles and gems. Bonus: the food was amazing. Think almond cake and frosting with a raspberry filling. Right? We had tons of fun doing the traditional "dress the bride" toilet paper game, had engagement ring pops, and enjoyed lots of paper and bows from present time!

P.S. The weather was gorgeous; I really started craving spring.
